Global agricultural machinery specialist TYM (Co-CEOs Hiyong Kim and Dohoon Kim / 002900) announced on the 26th that it has signed a definitive agreement with Samsung C&T Corporation’s Resort Group to jointly develop an automatic lawn mowing robot for golf courses, referred to as an “autonomous mower.”
The signing ceremony was held on the morning of the 26th at Anseong Benest Golf Club in Anseong, Gyeonggi Province, with around 10 representatives from both companies in attendance, including Hanki Jang, CTO of TYM Corporation, and Sung-min Kim, Head of the Golf Business Team at Samsung C&T Resort Group (Senior Vice President).
This collaboration aims to develop autonomous turf management technology optimized for real world golf course operating environments. The two companies have been reviewing the business feasibility of the project since August last year, signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) in March this year, and are now moving into full scale development with the conclusion of this definitive agreement.

TYM has begun development of a Physical AI–based lawn-mowing robot capable of obstacle detection, obstacle avoidance, and fully autonomous operation without worker intervention. By applying multi-sensor fusion technology, the robot will recognize terrain slope, obstacles, and grass height in real time, while AI algorithms independently calculate the optimal driving path and execute precise control. In addition, through lightweight construction and a low-center-of-gravity design, the robot will deliver consistent cutting quality and safety across a variety of golf course environments, while further enhancing price competitiveness compared to imported products.
Samsung C&T Resort Group will share its operational know-how, provide test fields and lead quality verification, while leveraging its domestic and overseas golf course network to support expansion into new markets. TYM will take charge of developing Physical AI lawn mowing technology and will oversee product supply, service and distribution, leading the commercialization of the solution. Through this partnership, the two companies plan to accelerate the commercialization of AI based autonomous work technology and strengthen their technological competitiveness and brand credibility in the field of golf course automation.
Hanki Jang, CTO of TYM Corporation, said, “It is highly meaningful to develop a Physical AI based lawn mowing robot in partnership with Samsung C&T Resort Group, which possesses Korea’s top tier turf management capabilities,” adding, “Through this collaboration, we will commercialize AI autonomous work technology and expand its application beyond golf course management automation to a wide range of fields, including sports facilities, public infrastructure and leisure complexes. By doing so, we aim to establish TYM’s Physical AI technology at the core of a sustainable, global autonomous work solutions market.”
